I set up Bridal & Beyond in early 2013 shortly after training at a top London academy. As a specialist in bridal, special occasion & airbrush makeup, I am well experienced in creating a wide range of looks to suit you & your personal style. I’ve been involved with countless weddings, proms, birthdays and other special occasions and can create anything from fresh-faced natural beauty looks to red-carpet glamour. I am based in Shrewsbury and cover Shrewsbury, the wider Shropshire area and some parts of West Wolverhampton.

My kit consists of products from a range of high-end and professional makeup brands including MAC, Urban Decay, Illamasqua, Estee Lauder, NARS, Ben Nye, Airbase & Temptu. I’m always keeping up to date with trends, techniques and new products in order to ensure that you are getting the very best service possible. My training is accredited by BABTAC, I’m fully insured through Salon Gold & I’m also a member of MAC Pro. If you have any questions about the services I provide then please feel free to get in touch with me and we can discuss your requirements.

Our Services

Bridal Makeup

Bridal makeup is so important - professional makeup will make a world of difference to your photos and really make you feel amazing on your special day. There are so many aspects that go in to creating beautiful wedding makeup; choosing complimentary colours, foundation matching for skin tone & skin type, ensuring that the makeup is suitable for photography, application methods for a flawless finish - having someone who knows exactly what they are doing will take the stress of all that away. My makeup training placed a big emphasis on skincare so I will ensure that your skin is properly prepped for the best possible finish and can also provide you with skincare tips at your trial in order to help you get it in the best condition in time for the big day. Skin preparation, along with a number of other techniques will ensure that your makeup lasts all day too. I do provide a small ’touch-up’ kit to all my brides which includes a few blotting sheets (for those prone to oil or sweat), a sample of your chosen lipstick, and a lip brush so that you can keep your lip colour topped up after eating and drinking.

Trials are normally carried our at your home address and I bring a makeup chair with me so you’re comfortable during the application. On the day I can come to an address of your choice or the wedding venue itself if that’s where you plan to be. The trial lasts approx 2 hours but I will stay as long as it takes for you to be 100% happy with the chosen makeup look. The look will be photographed and recorded so that I can recreate it on the day exactly. Trials are usually taken on weekdays as my weekends are normally booked with weddings but I do have some weekend availability after weddings if weekdays are too difficult for you. Ideally trials are done early in the day rather than on the evening so that you can check the wearability of the makeup. This way we will know if there are any lasting issues and if so, we can make suitable adjustments on the big day.

Special Occasion Makeup

A wedding is not the only time that a professional makeup artist can benefit you. If you have a special occasion, such as a prom, birthday or anniversary to celebrate, professional makeup will ensure that you look your best. In addition to this, I offer a ‘party eyes’ service where I can provide eye makeup and lashes to give you that 'red carpet' look at your special event. This is particularly useful for those who feel quite competent at their face makeup but lack confidence in creating more dramatic eye looks. This service is available for groups of 2 or more.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book my wedding day makeup?

You can secure your date by paying % of the total cost as a deposit.

To book please contact me with the wedding date and time and I will check to see if I am available. If I am, you can secure your date by paying a percentage of the total cost as a deposit. This ranges from 25%-50% and is dependant on how far in advance the booking is made. Special occasion dates can be reserved with a deposit of £10. Upon paying the deposit, you will be emailed with a confirmation / receipt as proof of your booking. Deposits payments are calculated on a per person basis and are non-refundable.

How far in advance should I book?

It is never too early to enquire about wedding makeup

It is never too early to enquire about wedding makeup. I am currently taking bookings for both 2016 and 2017 so if you want to secure your date it is best to get in touch as early as possible. I am sometimes available for last minute bookings too and will respond to any email enquiries as quickly as possible.

Should I have a wedding trial?

Trials are ideally performed at around 6-8 weeks before the wedding

Trials are ideally performed at around 6-8 weeks before the wedding but I am happy to book them further in advance should you wish. If you do wish to have them further in advance it is recommended that you have a clear idea of your wedding themes/clothing etc as it is important that the makeup ties in well with these. If you haven’t decided on any of these things yet it is probably best to wait as you may risk needing another trial If the makeup needs changing to compliment the altered plans. Equally, if your skin changes dramatically or your personal preferences change after a trial done well in advance you may need to book another closer to the wedding date.

How long will my makeup take?

For wedding day makeup I allocate around 1 hour per person

For wedding day makeup I allocate around 1 hour per person. The bride normally takes a touch longer than everyone else. For trials 2 hours are allocated to the bride and 1-1/2 hours for each bridesmaid. This gives us time to discuss ideas and make any necessary alterations.

Special occasion/party makeup takes around 1 hour and party eyes around 20-30 minutes.

What is airbrushing?

Airbrushing is a makeup technique often used in HD television

Airbrushing is a makeup technique often used in HD television and film due to the beautiful skin-like finish that can be achieved. The foundation is applied using an airbrush which atomises the product so that the particles of makeup are tiny. This results in a flawless natural finish which photographs beautifully. Using a range of the leading brands of silicone based airbrush foundation from Airbase and Temptu I can create a stunning base of makeup that is not only lightweight and luxurious on the skin but highly durable and long-lasting. Airbrush makeup is ideal for those that don't wear a lot of makeup as the finish is so natural. However, due to the concentration of pigment in the product, it can be built up in fine layers to cover imperfections or to create a more glamorous look. If you are unsure of whether airbrush or traditional makeup is best for you, we can determine this at the trial by taking into consideration your skin type and desired look.

Can you cover tattoos?

Pricing for tattoo cover us based on the colour and size of tattoo

I have completed both the introductory and advanced stages of Airbase Airbrush Makeup training which means I can effectively cover a wide range of skin complaints including rosacea, acne and tattoos. Pricing for tattoo cover is based on the colour and size of tattoo but starts from £15.

Will my makeup last all day?

Our techniques used are all designed to ensure that your makeup lasts.

Yes, the products and techniques used are all designed to ensure that your makeup lasts. Products selected will also be chosen according to your skin type to make sure that you get the very most out of your makeup. Small touch ups are normally required, for example, excess oil may need to be blotted away and lipstick will need to be reapplied. Brides receive a complimentary touch up kit to help with this. For those with oily or combination skin I recommend purchasing a compact powder to apply as necessary throughout the day. If you need product recommendations please feel free to email me and I will be more than happy to help. If you cry, dab the tears away rather than wiping as this will ensure that you don’t ruin your makeup. Also, try to catch the tears in the inside corner of your eye with tissue to keep them away from your face and false lashes (if you have them).

What makeup do you use?

MAC, Illamasqua, Nars, Urban Decay, Clinique, YSL and Estee Lauder

As a MAC Pro member a large proportion of my kit is MAC however I do use a variety of other high end brands including Illamasqua, Nars, Urban Decay, Clinique, YSL and Estee Lauder. I also use a small number of artist professional brands designed for film and television such as Ben Nye & Graftobian. You can rest assured that all of the products in my kit are chosen because of good personal experience and suitability for photography makeup.
